Bollywood film ‘Natkhat’ and Marathi film ‘Habaddi’ is all set to open the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2020. Due to the corona-virus pandemic both the films will be hosted virtually from 23 to 30 October.
Natkhat’, is a story of a mother teaching her young son about gender equality and calls out toxic misogyny. It will be screened in a double bonanza package along with Nachiket Samant's Habbadi, which traces the story of a young boy with a speech impediment.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh dropped the deeds on the projects. He tweeted, “UPDATE... #Natkhat - starring #VidyaBalan - and #Marathi film #Habaddi to open Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2020... #IFFM - hosted in Aug annually - is going virtual from 23 to 30 Oct 2020... Like every year, the Festival will showcase over 60 films in 17 languages”
Natkhat is a short film directed by Shaan Vyas and written by Vyas and Annukampa Harsh. It stars Vidya Balan as a mother educating her young son about gender equality. It premiered on YouTube as part of the We Are One: A Global Film Festival.
Habaddi’ is written and directed by Nachiket Samant. The story is about when the news of his village’s school kabaddi team traveling to Mumbai breaks out, a ten-year-old boy with a speech defect sees the opportunity to meet the girl he adores. The story highlights how he will chant Kabaddi, Kabaddi without stammering.
