Chekka Chivantha Vaanam Review: New style God Father!

Whenever there is a Mani Ratnam film release, there comes loads of excitement among the Fans and Film Buffs. Mani Ratnam is undoubtedly one of the best Film Maker in Indian Cinema.

This time, the ace director brings a Gangster multi-starrer drama Chekka Chivantha Vaanam which also has a twist in it’s tale and also looks like a stylized version of the classic The God Father.

A life attempt is made on the life of an ageing don Senapathy (Prakash Raj). The don has three sons the eldest one is Varadan (Arvind Swami) who is hot-tempered, the second one is Thyagu (Arun Vijay) who can be called a dark horse and the third one is Ethi (STR) who is the least favorite. And they all want to find out the person behind the attempt. The suspicion is on a rival gangster Chinnappadas (Thiagarajan).

The film maintains it’s space as a super-flick fast paced action thriller. But on the same hand, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam falls flat on face when it comes to the content. You are intelligent enough to understand (After every character is introduced) the suspense: Chinnappadas is not the culprit here!

Well, the rule is Mani Ratnam had his regular technical team to support him, Be it Santosh Sivan for the camera work, A R Rahman for music or Sreekar Prasad for the cuts (Editing), still one urges for a proper definite story telling.

The performances from every actors is praise-worthy. Yes, Chekka Chivantha Vaanam will not disappoint you. But better not to go with huge expectations.
