‘Kabir Singh’ review: Shahid Kapoor delivers at his best, Sandeep Reddy vanga successfully recreated the magic on screen!

No doubt Kabir Singh is an official Hindi remake of Telugu film Arjun Reddy, Kabir Singh stars Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani in the lead roles. Just like the original Vijay Devrakonda starrer, the remake too has been helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. And this one is one of the most anticipated movie of 2019.

Indeed it is directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga who had also helmed the original one. The movie is about a guy named Kabir Singh (Shahid Kapoor) who is studying in a medical college in Delhi. He falls in love with a girl named Preeti (Kiara Advani) who is junior to him in the college. Love blossoms between them but when they decide to get married, things don’t go as planned and they are separated. Because of this Kabir becomes an alcoholic.

Although Sandeep Vanga does a scene-by-scene adaptation of Arjun Reddy in Kabir Singh, the new take fails to be as impactfull as the original. The former also had a long run time, but as a viewer, we didn’t mind it as the characters, sequences and emotions were raw.

The character of Kabir’s friend Shiva (Soham Majumdar) deserves a special mention as he is Kabir’s only support system as his world keeps getting grimmer. Suresh Oberoi and Arjan Bajwa fill their roles with great ease as father and brother. Kiara Advani in the first half is good and impresses us in the pre-interval sequences. But unfortunately, she fails to make an impact in the climax.

The climax of the film is gifted to the lead actress and in Arjun Reddy, Shalini had done a fantastic job in it. Arjan Bajwa is amazing in his role and even Nikita Dutta leaves a mark. Soham Majumdar as Kabir Singh’s best friend Shiva is simply outstanding. Veteran actors Suresh Oberoi and Kamini Kaushal are good in their parts.

Overall the music of the film has caught on big time with the youth and is one of the rare albums of the year that comprises of original songs. At last I can say Shahid Kapoor’s performance is in top forms till yet. Kabir Singh will definitely click with the youngsters. He breathes life into the character of Kabir Singh and showcases a range of emotions from passion, hatred.
