Sarkar movie review: It’s the One Man show with Vijay!

Cast: Joseph Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar

Director: AR Murugadoss

Rating: 3.5/5(***)

AR Murugadoss has tried to do something fresh within limited political space. After the huge success of Thuppakki and Kaththi, director AR Murugadoss and Vijay have teamed up again for Sarkar. It works to an extent in the first half but the second half goes for a toss. The film is an intense political drama that is based on recent political developments including the Tamil Nadu chief minister’s death.

In this Film Vijay is playing the role of an NRI, who returns to India to vote in the elections but later finds out that his vote has already been cast. Following this, he becomes people’s representative and fights for their betterment.Considering the fact that Vijay had stated that he would fight corruption iff he became a chief minister, it only proves that Vijay is interested in taking the big plunge.

Produced by Sun Pictures, the movie also stars Keerthy Suresh, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi among others. Sarkar first half is decent in parts. So far, it’s a one man show by Vijay. While Keerthy Suresh tags along with Vijay and have no significance, Varalaxmi is limited to few scenes. The music of Sarkar has been composed by AR Rahman. The songs of the film are already a hit.”oru Viral Puratchi has already become a chartbuster. Vijay had even called the song people’s identity.
