Gooseberry Rasam to Boost Immunity

In this weather, one important thing to be followed is to increase our immunity.  All the necessary safety measures should be followed to increase immunity.

Our body should not only be protected from cold and common infections but also it's necessary to take precautions against serious illness. As they say, Precaution is Better than Cure, it is better to follow it.

So let us see the preparation of Gooseberry Rasam to Boost Immunity.

Required ingredients:- 

Gooseberries - 1 cup / 200 gm (sour amla)
Tomato - 2 ( chopped )
Jaggery - 1/4 cup
Coriander seeds - 1 Tablespoon
Red chili - 4 
Black pepper - 1 Tablespoon
Cumin - 1 tsp
Tur dal - 1 Tablespoon
Turmeric - 1/2 teaspoon
Salt - To taste

For Tempering :- 

Oil - 1 Tablespoon
Mustard - 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves - 20 
Fresh coriander leaves - for garnishing 

Preparation Method :- 

Dry roast/broil red chilli & tur dal till red in a pan. Cool. Mix the above-broiled ingredients with coriander seed, peppercorn, cumin and pound them coarsely. Keep aside.

Cook the tomatoes & gooseberries in 750 ml water until soft. Allow cooling. Mash & strain.

Add the pounded spice mix to the strained gooseberry & tomato extract. Add the turmeric powder and jaggery, mix well and bring to boil and simmer.

Heat the oil and toss in the mustard and curry leaves, as mustard starts to crackle pour into the simmering rasam.

Check to season. Serve garnished with coriander leaves along with steamed rice.
