Actor Ajay Devgn's brother and filmmaker Anil Devgan, died on Monday night, the ‘Omkara’ actor announced via tweet on Tuesday. Ajay didn’t reveal the reason for his brother's death but as per news reports, the filmmaker director suffered a cardiac arrest.
Sharing Anil Devgn’s picture on his Twitter account, Ajay disclosed that he has lost his brother on Monday and that his untimely demise has left the family in shock. He further went on to write that he will miss his presence dearly. He also updated that they will not hold a personal prayer meeting owing to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Several Bollywood celebrities took to social media to express their grief over the demise of Anil Devgan.
Actor-director Farhan Akhtar took to Twitter and extended deepest condolences to the Devgn family. "Sorry for your loss @ajaydevgn. Deepest condolences to you and family" tweeted Akhtar.
Actress Dia Mirza who had worked with the departed filmmaker in his film 'Blackmail,' also extended condolences to the family. “Deepest condolences to the family. have the fondest memories of working with him. Prayers for him” tweeted Mirza.
“Deepest condolences to the family. Extremely sorry for your loss. May his soul rest in peace,” tweeted Bipasha Basu.
While actor Varun Dhawan extended his ‘condolences’ to Ajay Devgn, filmmaker Abbas-Mustan tweeted, "Ohh sad!! May his soul rest in peace."
Anil Devgan has directed three movies – ‘Raju Chacha’ (2000), ‘Blackmail’ (2005), and ‘Haal-e-Dil’ (2008). He has been an assistant director in movies like ‘Pyaar Toh Hona Hi Tha’, ‘Itihaas’, and others. He was also the creative director for Ajay Devgn and Sonakshi Sinha starrer movie ‘Son Of Sardaar’. Son of Veeru Devgan, Anil Devgan is survived by his wife and a son.
On the film front, Ajay Devgn' was last seen in ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, also featuring his wife Kajol. He has a couple of films lined up such as ‘Maidaan’, ‘Sooryavanshi’ co-starring Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif, and ‘Bhuj: The Pride Of India’ which will release on Disney+Hotstar.
