Allu Arjun Might Be Part of 83
The year 1983 is a memorable one for all Indian cricket fans. That is the year that the Indian cricket team won the World Cup – back then, it was known as the Prudential Cup. A film based on this incident, ’83’ is in the works and Ranveer Singh is all set to play Kapil Dev. While that’s confirmed, there are now rumors about who will play the rest of the team and the other people involved.
The internet is abuzz with such rumors and one such is that South Indian actor Allu Arjun will be making his Bollywood debut as Krishnamachari Srikkanth in the film. While Kapil Dev was the captain of the team, Srikkanth was an integral part of the team as well. Srikkanth was the top scorer in the match for both sides with a 38. Of course, that number seems very small right now, but cricket fans will tell you that it was one of Srikkanth’s most important knocks, as it was instrumental in winning the World Cup for India.
The 1983 World Cup was such an important win for Indian cricket because the country was considered as minnows in the field of cricket at that time. The young, inexperienced but highly talented team had won the Cup in what we call a cracker of a match.
