​Anand Gandhi Confirms His Next, Emergence
Filmmaker Anand Gandhi confirms his next movie Emergence based on 2015 pandemic, unveils first concept art on social media.
National Award Winning filmmaker Anand Gandhi is known for some of the most prolific and though provoking movies, such as Ship Of Thesus, Tumbbad, An Insignificant Man and more.
The filmmaker took to his social media profile and confirmed his next outing. He tweeted, “I started working on an existential risk script with a focus on pandemics in 2015. After five years of intensive research and scripting, sharing our first concept art as we begin the casting process. #Emergence #7YearsOfShipOfTheseus”
Anand Gandhi confirmed his next outing on the eve of his directorial masterpiece, Ship Of Thesus, clocking seven years.
The poster depicts different activities being carried out, in the background. It shows earth being struck by a meteorite and being invaded by alien objects, while at the forefront it shows a lady astronaut blowing air to a place resembling Antarctica, as the glaciers meltdown. The poster also shows the penguins, polar bears and fishes in the Antarctic amid the melting area.
Tumbbad premiered in the critics' week section of the 75th Venice International Film Festival—the first Indian film to be screened there. It was also screened at: the 2018 Fantastic Fest, Sitges Film Festival, the Screamfest Horror Film Festival, the El Gouna Film Festival, 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala, Morbido Film Fest, Brooklyn Horror Film Festival and Nitte International Film Festival. It was released on 12 October 2018 to mostly positive reviews with critics praising the visuals.
Tumbbad received eight nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards winning three for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction and Best Sound Design.
