The fact about Bajirao Mastani film, originally, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai were supposed to play the lead roles in the epic period drama that was announced in 2003. Actress Bhumika Chawla was to essay Kashi Bai.
After Salman and Aishwarya's ugly breakup, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Rani Mukerji were roped in to play Mastani and Kashi Bai respectively. But the project didn't materialize with the cast the director had in mind. Over the next decade until the film saw the light of the day, several actors including Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan, and even Katrina Kaif were roped in to play the lead roles, however, nothing worked out till Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra were finally cast in the film.
On the work front, Deepika will be seen in movie 83. It is a sports drama film helmed by Kabir Khan. It has an ensemble cast of Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Harrdy Sandhu, Ammy Virk, Jiiva, Pankaj Tripathi, Boman Irani, Nishant Dahiya, and Sahil Khattar. The movie will show the Indian Cricket Team’s first Cricket World Cup win in 1983 under the leadership of Kapil Dev. The much-anticipated movie was scheduled to release on April 10, 2020, but has been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.
