Comedian Bharti Singh and her husband Haarsh Limbachiyaa's house was raided on Saturday morning by the NCB officials. They were then taken to the NCB office for questioning after the anti-drug agency recovered a small amount of cannabis (86.5 grams) during a search of their home.
Finally, after hours of questioning, both of them have been arrested and have been sent to 14-day judicial custody by the Mumbai Court. They will be held in custody till December 4. While Bharti was arrested on Saturday, Haarsh was arrested on Sunday after questioning him for almost 12 hours.
The couple accepted consumption of ganja and have been booked under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They have applied for their bail hearing which will be heard today.
According to law, up to 1000 gm of Ganja is considered a small quantity which attracts a jail term up to 6 months and/or a fine of Rs 10000. The quantity of drugs found at their home is not commercial and is considered a small quantity.
Bollywood is under the radar of the NCB officials ever since the demise of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. They have been probing the alleged drug use here and many A-listed actors have been investigated till now.
