"Bollywood Remembers Om Puri On His Death Anniversary".

Actor Ranvir Shorey and Tillotama Shome fondly remembers the later actor Om Puri on his death anniversary.
On 6th January 2017 actor Om Puri left behind an unmatched legacy. For decades he made us laugh and cry, and appreciate a higher form of art. The actor won everyone’s heart with his stellar performances and took the whole level of performing arts to international standards.
Actor Ranvir Shorey took to his social media and shared a picture and wrote “Remembering the warm, gracious and lion-hearted #OmPuri. What a bundle of love and joy he was. Miss him sorely”
Actress Tillotama Shome who has worked with Om Puri in Death In The Gunj wrote a heartfelt note for the late actor. It read, “Om Ji, You had so many battle scars and yet carried no malice or cynicism about the human condition. You are a legendary actor, but as a human being you broke so many glass ceilings”
“I remember many things Om Ji shared with us. Unforgettable were the meals he cooked during the shoot of Death in the Gunj. Especially the baingan bhaja day, because his hands were shaky. I was so afraid the hot oil would splatter on him but he refused any help. Cheers to your giant heart Om Ji!” read the full note.
Om Puri was known for movies like Aakrosh, Arohan, Ardh Satya and television films like Sadgati and Tamas and also light-hearted roles in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro and Chachi 420.
He had various collaborations with director Shyam Benegal and Govind Nihalani. Puri also appeared in non-Indian productions in the United States and Britain.
Puri was awarded Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award of India, in 1990. In 2004, he was made an honorary Officer of the Order of the British Empire.
