"Experience of playing the role of Sattu in ‘Ludo’ was like going on a road trip for me says Pankaj Tripathi".
Critically acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi, who next will be seen onscreen in a Netflix film titled ‘Ludo’, has said that he felt like going on a road trip while playing the role of Sattu in the upcoming dark comedy film. He added that actors should surrender themselves to the conviction and vision of the director while working in a film.
Pankaj Tripathi was interacting with the cast and crew of ‘Ludo’ via video conferencing on Monday in Mumbai.
Yesterday makers of ‘Ludo’ released the trailer of the film, the 2-minute-47-second trailer shows Abhishek Bachchan playing a naive kidnapper who makes a ransom call to someone in return for the person's kidnapped daughter. However, he is so hopeless in his attempt, that the child has to step in and guide him. Rajkummar Rao is seen playing a waiter, who is approached by his childhood crush, played by Fatima Sana Shaikh, to help her husband escape out of jail. Meanwhile, Aditya Rou Kapur and Sanya Malhotra play a couple in love, while Tripathi essays an assassin.
Sharing his experience working with Basu who is known for his spontaneity on film sets, Tripathi said, “It was an incredible experience working on this film. I really like going on road trips without making any plans and without seeing maps, so playing the character of Sattu was like a road trip for me where you don’t know whether there will be mountains, deserts or rivers ahead in your journey. An unplanned road trips, you often go to unknown territories and you don’t know what you will experience in that journey and that’s the most amazing part of it. “
Tripathi added that actors should surrender themselves to conviction and vision of the filmmaker while working in the film, “When I started shooting for the film, I didn’t know that there are so much exciting elements in the film. I think in your life also, you don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow but when you are doing cinema, most of the times, you know what is going to happen as an actor, so I feel like life, sometimes we shouldn’t take much effort to anticipate what’s is going to happen in the film or what is going to be audience response for the film. In our life, we have Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh (name of Hindu Gods) and in films, we have director, so we should surrender to the conviction and vision of the director while working in the film.”
‘Ludo’ is about four different stories tied together by unavoidable circumstances and coincidences far beyond our understanding, all of which make up for a crazy caper of a film.
It is directed by Anurag Basu and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Divya Khosla Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Tani Basu under the banners of T-Series and Anurag Basu Productions. It stars an ensemble cast of Abhishek Bachchan, Inayat Verma, Rajkummar Rao, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanya Malhotra, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Pankaj Tripathi, Rohit Suresh Saraf, Pearle Maaney, and Asha Negi.
The film will be released on 12 November 2020 on Netflix.
