"I always dreamt of becoming a cricketer but we didn’t have a platform in small-town says, Sonu Sood".
Actor Sonu Sood who hails from Moga, Punjab has said that he always dreamt of becoming a cricket player but he didn’t get the platform in his town during his growing up years. He also added saying that he is working on a plan which will provide an opportunity to emerging young cricketers to show their skills on a pan-India level.
Sonu Sood was interacting with News Helpline at Cricfit Premier League 2021 on Thursday in Mumbai.

‘Simmba’ actor was seen playing cricket with young kids at the event, talking about his love for cricket, Sonu said, “I always dreamt of becoming a cricketer but I didn’t have such kind of platforms in our small town but when I see all these young kids playing cricket, it feels really good. I think they are getting the right kind of guidance and support, so I hope that we will have better cricketers for our country in the future.”

He added, “I like both battings as well as bowling but I didn’t get much time to play the sport. I feel we all should take some out from our busy work schedules and reinvent our passion. Sometimes when you see these kids playing not just cricket but any kind of sports, you feel motivated to follow them.”

In April and May, as the lockdown kept extending due to large numbers of Covid-19 cases, desperate migrants started walking home. Sood Sood launched the Ghar Bhejo campaign and reportedly arranged transport for 7.5 lakh migrant workers. He equipped frontline workers with masks and face shields, airlifted students stranded abroad, and helped farmers in distress. He also launched Pravasi Rojgar, an app to help skilled and unskilled workers find jobs.

When asked Sonu whether is planning to come up with a certain initiative which will encourage budding cricketers across the country, he said, “Definitely! We are already working on it. I had a word with Mikhail (Vaswani), Founder at Cricfit on several occasions that we should do something for the emerging talent of the country, so we are already working on it to create a platform on a pan India level where they (children) can explore their skills and enjoy the sports.”

Talking about his upcoming projects, Sonu said, “There are two movies in South (film industry). One of them is releasing this month and the other one will release after some time. I have completed the shooting of ‘Prithiviraj’. They (makers of the film) are planning to release the film when the situation (covid-19 pandemic) gets better. There are two to three movies in Hindi which we are planning, so hopefully, 2021 is going to be special for all of us.”

‘Prithviraj’ is a historical action drama film directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi and produced by Yash Raj Films. Based on the life of Prithviraj Chauhan, it features Akshay Kumar as Chauhan while Manushi Chhillar makes her Hindi film debut by playing his love interest and beloved wife Sanyogita. The film also stars Sanjay Dutt, Sonu Sood, Ashutosh Rana, Sakshi Tanwar, Manav Vij, and Lalit Tiwari among other important characters.
