Actor Pankaj Tripathi, who attended a screening of his film ‘Kaagaz’, has said that he got a bit emotional after watching the biographical drama film. He also praised the maker of the film Satish Kaushik by saying that he made a fantastic film.

Pankaj Tripathi was interacting with News Helpline at the special screening of ‘Kaagaz’ along with the film’s director Satish Kaushik on Wednesday in Mumbai.

‘Kaagaz’ is winning rave reviews in the preview circuit. People are praising the film for its unique subject, Pankaj Tripathi’s performance, and Satish Kaushik’s direction. The film will release on 7th January on Zee5 and in select cinemas of Uttar Pradesh.

Sharing his feelings after watching the film, Tripathi said, “Last time, I wasn’t able to attend the screening of the film because I was busy shooting for one of my upcoming projects. It’s my film, so what should I brag about it? I was just telling sir (Satish Kaushik) that he has made a fantastic film. Today, we showed the film to a few of our family members, so hopefully people will now watch the film after its release. I am very excited to know the audience reaction to the film. In fact, this is the first time I am watching the film, so I got a bit emotional while watching it.”

‘Kaagaz’ is based on the life and struggle of Lal Bihari, a farmer from a small village in Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh, India, who was declared dead on government records.

It is directed by Satish Kaushik and produced by Salman Khan and Nishant Kaushik under the banner of Salman Khan Films and The Satish Kaushik Entertainment Production.

The film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Monal Gajjar, Amar Upadhyay and Sandeepa Dhar in key roles.

In 2020, Pankaj Tripathi featured in ‘Angrezi Medium’, Netflix films such as ‘Extraction’, ‘Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl’ and ‘Ludo’ and Amazon Prime Videos web series ‘Mirzapur 2’ and in all these projects Triapthi’s performance was lauded by critics and the audience, when asked Tripathi what are his expectations from 2021, he said,  “Last year, people praised my work in ‘Gunjan Sexena – The Kargil Girl’, ‘Ludo’ and ‘Mirzapur 2’, so I hope that ‘Kaagaz’ will give a happy and positive opening to me in this year as well. I felt connected with the film after watching it, so I am sure people will also connect with it. Generally, I am critical when it comes to my own performances and I see flaws in my performance while watching it but what I saw today, I can see that I am excited about the film.”

He added, “I have been working with honesty and dedication in this industry for many years, so I am getting rewarded for it. When theatres were closed, we entertained people in their homes through OTT platforms. ‘Kaagaz’ is releasing on 7th January, so I am looking forward to its release.”

Tripathi will next be seen in Kabir Khan’s sports drama film ‘83’ and Laxman Utekar directorial ‘Mimi’. He will also feature in Indrajit Lankesh’s biographical film ‘Shakeela’ and Yash Raj Films productions black comedy film ‘Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar’.
