"I missed being on a set during lockdown says Ali Asgar".
Actor-comedian Ali Asgar, who is known for playing comic characters onscreen, has said that he missed being on a set during the period of lockdown. He added saying that he started loving his profession all over again during the covid-19 pandemic as he was sitting at home for the past year.
Ali Asgar was interacting with the News Helpline in Mumbai.
When asked Asgar how he dealt with lockdown since last year as an actor, he said, “It was very unexpected and nobody ever thought of a word called ‘lockdown’ which will enter our lives. It was quite difficult in the beginning thinking about what will happen in the next few days but after a few days, we all got used to it and we started talking with our family and friends over phone calls. I think our country has managed this pandemic in a really good manner and because of that today, we all are talking standing next to each other. If you see European countries, the situation over there is still not pleasant but I hope and pray that everything gets normal over there as well.”
He added, “As an actor, we didn’t know what was going to happen in the next one year. I feel that I started loving my profession all over again during this period because I have started giving value to things like going on a set, discussing with your director, fun with your co-actors and performing scenes, and entertaining the audience. I missed these things so much that I thanked God saying that he made me an actor. I think I want to continue doing my work till my last breath because I don’t know anything apart from it.”
When asked Asgar whether he feels that ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ gave him a new identity as an actor, he said, “Definitely! I feel after every show, an actor feels growth in him and every show gives him recognition. It was a different character of Daadi (grandmother) and I never thought that people would appreciate it so much, so I am grateful to the audience for appreciating my performances over the years.”
Since quitting ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’, Asgar has been doing multiple roles in various television comedy shows and serials like ‘Kanpur Wale Khuranas’ and ‘Akbar Ka Bal Birbal’. He was also a part of movies like ‘Pagalpanti’ and ‘Judwaa 2’ and ‘Amavas’.
When asked Asgar how much time the entertainment industry will take to start its activities with full strength, he said, “It will take some time. Fortunately, we have started doing our work. People still have fear in their minds to step out of their houses and I would urge them that they shouldn’t take things lightly. They should still wear face masks, sanitize themselves, and follow social distancing till the time this deadly disease (covid-19) doesn’t go away from our lives.”
