"Karnataka Police file case against Kangana Ranaut for an anti-farmer tweet".

A case has been registered against Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut in Karnataka over her tweet allegedly targeting farmers protesting against contentious central farm laws, police said on Tuesday.

The case was registered by police in Tumakuru district on Monday based on the recent order of a local court.

It has been registered under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 108 (abetment), wanton vilification upon a community (153A), and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace (504), police said.

“People who spread misinformation and rumors about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about farmers' bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation,” Kangana had tweeted.

The Tumakuru Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court had on October 9 directed police to register an FIR on a complaint by lawyer L Ramesh Naik who contended that the September 21 tweet on the actor's Twitter handle KanganaTeam had hurt him.

Kangana has been involved in numerous controversies since the time she has joined Twitter. She criticized the Maharashtra government and Mumbai’s civic agency BMC when her office demolished in the month of September. She criticized Mumbai police and made accusations against them that they are working under the pressure of influential personalities of Bollywood in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s death investigation.

She has also been criticizing Bollywood bigwigs since the time Sushant died by suicide at his residence in June. Kangana is making accusations that ‘Kai Po Che’ actor was sidelined in the film industry and eventually murdered as he was an outsider.

On the film front, Kangana next will be seen onscreen in A. L. Vijay directorial ‘Thalaivi’. The film is based on the life of J. Jayalalithaa, a late politician and film actress who served six terms as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, with Kangana Ranaut playing the role of Jayalalithaa. The film is simultaneously shot in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu under the same title.

She will also feature in Sarvesh Mewara directorial ‘Tejas’. Kangana essays the role of an Indian Air Force pilot in the film. ‘Tejas’ is being produced by Ronnie Srewvala under the banner of RSVP Movies.
