Actor Lara Dutta Bhupathi took a trip down memory lane on Wednesday and reminisced about winning the prestigious Miss Universe title in 2000. She recalled how she got the ‘grandest welcome’ from the people of her hometown, Bengaluru.
Sharing a collage of pictures from the parade on her Instagram handle, Lara wrote, “The Year 2000. My home town of Bengaluru came out in full force to give me the biggest, grandest welcome I have ever experienced!! The Miss Universe officials who had accompanied me on this trip were overwhelmed!! They had never experienced such large numbers of people!!”

Lara Dutta Bhupathi was the second Indian to win the Miss Universe Title after Sushmita Sen who became the first one to bring the title to India in 1994.

Lara Dutta Bhupathi will next be seen in Ranjit M Tewari’s upcoming spy-thriller film ‘Bell Bottom’ along with Akshay Kumar, Vaani Kapoor, and Huma Qureshi in lead roles.
The film is scheduled to be released on 2 April 2021.
