Actress Payal Ghosh has joined the Republican Party of India (RPI) in Mumbai.
The actress along with Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Ramdas Athawale, Kishor Masoom, and Nitin Satpute, held a joint press conference and made the official announcement.
Payal, who accused Anurag Kashyap of rape, was appointed vice-president of the women’s wing of the Republican Party of India.
Earlier, Athawale had said that the Republican Party of India will provide security to Payal Ghosh and the Mumbai Police should investigate the entire episode very quickly and take stern action against the accused.
The FIR was registered under Indian Penal Code Sections 376 (I) (rape), 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty,), 341 (wrongful restraint), and 342 (wrongful confinement).
Anurag Kashyap has denied all the charged and has even found support in his industry friends, such as Hansal Mehta, Taapse Pannu, Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub as well as former wife, film editor Aarti Bajaj crediting him for creating a safe workspace for women, though no concrete comment has been made about the specific allegation.
