"Rana Daggubati starrer ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ gets a new release date; to hit the screens on March 26".

Actor-producer Rana Daggubati's starrer multilingual film ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ will release on March 26, the actor announced in a tweet on Wednesday. The film, titled ‘Kaadan’ in Tamil and ‘Aranya’ in Telugu, was to have released this month to coincide with the South Indian festival Pongal.

“Welcoming the new year and the new normal, we are excited to bring #HaathiMereSaathi, #Aranya, and #Kaadan on 26th March, in a theatre near you!  #PrabuSolomon @PulkitSamrat @TheVishnuVishal @zyhssn @ShriyaP @ErosSTX @ErosMotionPics @ErosNow”, Rana tweeted.

The film tackles the issue of global warming and deforestation that impact wildlife and the human population. In ‘Haathi Mere Saathi’, Rana Daggubati plays the role of a Bandev, whose close companions are a herd of elephants. The 36-year-old actor, known for his imposing physique in films such as the Baahuabali series, lost 30-odd kilos for the role. His drastic transformation prompted concern from fans and triggered rumors about his health last year.

‘Haathi Mere Saathi’ was originally slated for release last April but was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic-related lockdown, like so many other films. The film is directed by Prabhu Solomon and it also stars Pulkit Samrat, Vishnu Vishal, Shriya Pilgaonkar, and Zoya Hussain in key roles.

Recently, Rana Daggubati shared on Twitter that he will be teaming up with Pawan Kalyan for an upcoming Telugu project. As per news reports, it will be a remake of the hit Malayalam film ‘Ayyappanum Koshiyum’, though this has not been officially confirmed. Saagar Chandra will direct this venture, which will be bankrolled by Sithara Entertainments.

Rana also has the Telugu film ‘Virata Parvam’ in the making. Sai Pallavi plays the female lead in this film. It will be a romance film, but will also have elements of action and politics. The film is directed by Venu Udugula of Naadi Needi Oke Katha fame. ‘Virata Parvam’ is bankrolled by Rana’s father Suresh Babu Daggubati in association with Sudhakar Cherukuri.
