"Ranveer Singh wishes a speedy recovery to Kapil Dev; 1983 world cup hero is stable after heart surgery".
Actor Ranveer Singh wished a speedy recovery to former Indian cricketer Kapil Dev after he suffered a heart attack on social media on Friday. Dev, who led India to its first World Cup title in 1983, was rushed to a Delhi hospital where surgeons conducted an emergency coronary angioplasty. After receiving treatment, the 61-year-old is now in stable condition.
Ranveer hasn’t been active on social media since his actor wife Deepika Padukone has been questioned by NCB in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput death case. But he made sure that he extends his wishes to legendary Indian cricketer on social media.
“The Legend @therealkapildev embodies strength and resilience… Praying for a speedy recovery of my main man,” Ranveer wrote on Twitter.
One of India’s greatest cricketers, Kapil played 131 Tests and 225 ODIs. He is the only player in cricket’s history to claim over 400 wickets (434) and accumulate more than 5000 runs in Tests. In 1983, Dev had led India to its first-ever World Cup trophy. The team had defeated West Indies in the final to win the coveted tournament.
Ranveer is playing Kapil’s role in Kabir Khan’s upcoming film, 83. The film is based on the Indian cricket team’s World Cup win in 1983. Ranveer even trained under Kapil to prepare for the role and stayed at his home for a few days with his family.
The film also stars Deepika Padukone in which she is playing the role of Kapil’s wife Romi. It was supposed to release this summer but has been indefinitely delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Apart from ‘83’, Ranveer Singh will be seen onscreen in Dharma Productions period drama film ‘Takht’, Yash Raj Film productions ‘Jayeshbhai Jordaar’ and Rohit Shetty’s recently announced film ‘Cirkus’.
