Superstar Shah Rukh Khan got nostalgic on social media as one of the most successful films ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ turned 25 years on Tuesday. The iconic romantic film released on 20 October 1995 and it also starred Kajol as a female lead.

Sharing a small video on his Facebook handle, Shah Rukh wrote, “25 years!!! Filled with gratitude towards you for loving Raj & Simran, with all your heart. This always feels special. #DDLJ25 YRF - Yash Raj Films”.

The video starts with the iconic song ‘Tujhe Dekha To Ye Jaana Sanam’ sung by Kumar Sanu and Lata Mangeshkar. It also captures some of the riveting scenes of the film.

Shah Rukh Khan even changed his profile picture on his social media on a special occasion and he posted a picture of Raj, his character in DDLJ as a profile picture on his social media.

‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ revolves around Raj and Simran, two young non-resident Indians, who meet each other during a trip across Europe, and the two fall in love. However, when Raj learns that Simran is already promised to another, he follows her to India to win her and her father over.

The film became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year, and one of the most successful Indian films in history. It won 10 Filmfare Awards—the most for a single film at that time—and the National Film Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment. Its soundtrack album became one of the most popular of the 1990s.

It is directed by Aditya Chopra, produced by his father Yash Chopra, and written by Javed Siddiqui with Aditya Chopra.

The film also Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Anupam Kher, Karan Johar, Satish Shah, Parmeet Sethi, Mandira Bedi, Achala Sachdev, and Pooja Ruaprel in solid supporting roles.

Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ was one of only three Hindi films in the reference book 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, and was placed twelfth on the British Film Institute's list of top Indian films of all time. It is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema. As of 2020, over 25 years after its first release, it is still being shown at the Maratha Mandir theatre in Mumbai.

Shah Rukh Khan was last seen onscreen in ‘Zero’ along with Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma which released in 2018.

Currently, Shah Rukh Khan is in the United Arab Emirates with his family where he is supporting his team Kolkata Knight Riders in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League.

On the work front, according to news reports, Shah Rukh Khan has signed a Yash Raj Film productions upcoming film ‘Pathan’, a slick and stylish revenge drama directed by Siddharth Anand. Shah Rukh Khan might start shooting for the film from November. The film also stars John Abraham and Deepika Padukone in leading roles.
