To mark International Day of the Girl Child, Richa Chadha, Frieda Pinto and Mrunal Thakur starrer Love Sonia to be screened at the United Nations.
Love Sonia which released on 14 September has received quite a lot of praise for the story line as well as the subject, the movie is an authentic tale about the horrors of sex trafficking, and it has now been announced that it will be screened at the United Nations.
On International Day of the girl Child “Love Sonia” will be showcased at UN in New York on October 11 marking its first screening in the US.
According to the UNODC, human trafficking is the third largest crime in the world, involving billions of dollars and victimizing thousands of people, especially women and children. The screening will be hosted by the UN Office for Drugs and Crime and Indian anti-trafficking organization.
Simone Monasebian, Director of the UN Office for Drugs and Crime said “Art is a powerful advocacy tool to raise awareness, and we hope this beautifully acted thoughtful film will move people to take action against the scourge of sex trafficking,”
Speaking about the success for the movie Director Tabrez Noorani said “”It’s an honor for us to screen our film ‘Love Sonia’ for the UN. I feel privileged, and I am looking forward to the screening on the Oct. 11 in New York,”
