Tom Cruise Starrer Top Gun 2 Release Shifted

Tom Cruise fans will have to wait until next year to see the sequels to “Top Gun”.

The much-awaited release was part of a release date shakeup from Paramount, “Top Gun: Maverick,” a sequel to Tom Cruise’s 1986 classic, will take flight on July 2, 2021, nearly six months after its original date of 23rd December 2020.

Mounted a whopping budget of 150 Million dollars, the makers are counting on robust ticket sales across the globe, when the movie opens up in the theatre.

“Top Gun: Maverick” release date shuffle was partially due to scheduling conflicts for Cruise. The actor is expected to film the next two “Mission: Impossible” movies when Paramount would need him to promote “Top Gun: Maverick.” By postponing it until the following summer, it frees up Cruise to embark on one of his trademark global promotional campaigns to tout the movie and his death-defying stunts.

The action drama is helmed by Joseph Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, Eric Warren Singer, and Christopher McQuarrie and a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. The film also stars Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman, Ed Harris, and Val Kilmer. Cruise and Kilmer reprise their roles from the first film.

Top Gun: Maverick is scheduled to be theatrically released in the United States on July 2, 2021, by Paramount Pictures.
