Actor Varun Dhawan has dismissed a news report which stated that his father and filmmaker David Dhawan is working on a remake of the 1982 Amitabh Bachchan starrer superhit film ‘Namak Halaal’. Varun took to his social media on Wednesday to clarify the matter for his fans and followers.

‘Badlapur’ actor shared the link of a news article on his Twitter handle which claimed that David Dhawan was working on a remake with Varun leading the film.

Varun tweeted, “Guys u can write how many ever make-belief stories about me but don't makeup things about my dad. This is a completely fabricated story ... will see u (on) Christmas to make u laugh,"

A few days back, Varun completed eight years in Bollywood, so he wrote a thank you note for his fans on social media.

"It's been eight years since this journey began between me and you. Thank you for believing in me when no one did. I remember every city I toured. The signs, letters, gifts, tattoos and most Importantly the love," Varun tweeted along with several moments with fans, press tours, and promotions.

"When I cried, you cried when I laughed, you laughed but most importantly I know you cared for everything I did and that's the most important thing. Be safe," he added.

Varun Dhawan made his Hindi film debut with Dharma Productions film ‘Student Of The Year’ which released in 2012. Since then, he has been a part of several successful films such as ‘Badlapur’, ‘Main Tera Hero’, ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’, ‘ABCD 2’, ‘Dishoom’ and ‘Badrinath Ki Dulhania’.

Varun next will be seen onscreen in a comedy film titled ‘Coolie No. 1’, directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani.

The film is a remake of the 1995 film of the same name and it also stars Sara Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Javed Jaffrey, Rajpal Yadav, and Johny Lever in important roles.

‘Coolie No. 1’ is slated for release on December 25 on Amazon Prime Video.

Varun Dhawan will also collaborate with Sriram Raghavan for the second occasion for a film based on the life of Param Vir Chakra recipient Arun Khetarpal.
