"Vivek Oberoi recreates iconic song ‘O Humdum Suniyo Re’ on the beach as ‘Saathiya’ clocks 18 years".
Actor-producer Vivek Oberoi posted a beautiful video on his social media on Wednesday to celebrate 18 years of ‘Saathiya’ which is one of the biggest hits of his 18-year long film career. In his post, he thanked the audience for appreciating Rani Mukerji’s and his performance in the film.
Sharing the video on his Instagram handle, Vivek wrote, “O humdum suniyo re...o janiya suniyo re...haha.. cannot believe it's been 18 years...! In the video, Vivek is seen riding the bike on one of the beaches of Mumbai, and as the ‘O Humdum Suniyo Re’ plays in the background. He also used original footage of the song in his recreated video.
‘O Humdum Suniyo Re’ is regarded as one of the cult romantic songs. All the songs of ‘Saathiya’ are composed by legendary music composer A.R. Rahman and penned by veteran lyricist and writer Gulzar. These songs were instant hits when it released and audiences still remember it as Rahman’s on the best film albums.
Vivek Oberoi made his Hindi film debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s crime-thriller drama film ‘Company’ in 2002 and ‘Saathiya’ was his third film which released in the same year on 20th December but it gave him an identity of a romantic chocolate boy.
‘Saathiya’ is directed by Shaad Ali and produced by Mani Ratnam and Yash Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films. It is a remake of Mani Ratnam’s successful Tamil film ‘Alaipayuthey’ starring Madhavan and Shalini. It’s a story of a young couple who realizes that life is not a bed of roses after they marry in a hurry.
Along with Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukerji, ‘Saathiya’ also featured Shah Rukh Khan and Tabu in extended special appearances.
‘Saathiya’ won 6 Filmfare awards and Vivek Oberoi was also nominated under the category of Best Actor at the award ceremony.
On the work front, Vivek Oberoi will next be seen in Vishal Mishra’s upcoming whodunit thriller 'It - Can You Solve Your Own Murder?' along with Sushmita Sen’s with younger brother Rajeev Sen and Taher Shabbir.
Vivek Oberoi is also producing the film along with Girish Johar, Kusum Arora, Rishabh D Saraf and Keyur Pandya, and Prerna V Arora.
Vivek is also producing and acting in ‘Rosie: The Saffron Chapter’. It also stars television actress Shweta Tiwari’s daughter Palak Tiwari in a pivotal role.
Directed by Vishal Mishra, the film is a horror-thriller said to be based on the real-life story of the sudden disappearance of a woman named Rosie, who was an employee at a BPO organization in Gurugram.
It is presented by Vivek Oberoi’s Oberoi Mega Entertainment and Prernaa V Arora’s Mandira Entertainment.
