When asked Menon what are his expectations from the show, he said, “I don’t think about expectations. I don’t work for results. I just do it (acting) because I like doing it. So, I try to do my work with honesty and sincerity. Once I am finished with it then it all depends on the audience in terms of its response. But I can say that we have not left any stone unturned. We have worked on every aspect and you will see that in the series.”

The eight-episode series draws on the role of Indian intelligence agencies in a series of real terror attacks that India faced over the last 19 years.

“Talking about his character in the web series, Menon said, “I am playing role of a man called Himmat Singh. He is a chief analyst and works with RAW (Research and Analysis Wing). He has his own theory (about terrorist attacks) but after one point nobody believes whether it is right or wrong. People feel that he is telling fabricated stories but he works on his theory for 19 years. So, after 19 years whether his theory proves to be right or wrong that’s the story of this web series.”

The writers of ‘Special Ops’ are Neeraj Pandey, Deepak Kingrani and Benazir Ali Fida. The international locations include Turkey, Azerbaijan and Jordan.

Talking about scale of the show, Menon said, “It is mounted on a very big scale which you will see in the trailer. It will give you a feeling like you are watching magnum opus kind of a show. I think we haven’t this kind of web series in India plus, it involves writing of Neeraj Pandey which is very tight. He has the knack of making people laugh while telling a serious story so, all these things are very special. That’s why I feel that people will really like this show. Entire cast and crew of the show has worked really hard while we were shooting for it and I feel it can’t get better than this.”

‘Special Ops’ stars ensemble cast of  Kay Kay Menon, Vinay Pathak, Divya Dutta, Karan Tacker, Saiyami Kher, Muzammil Ibrahim, Meher Vij, Vipul Gupta, Sajjad Delafrooz, Parmeet Sethi, Gautami Kapoor, Sana Khaan, Sharad Kelkar and KP Mukherjee.

When asked Menon what he feels when he works in a project which has ensemble cast, he said, “I don’t get bothered about it. I just concentrate on playing my own character.  I feel every character in this show has its own responsibility and it was very necessary to make sure that we do justice to our characters. I feel everyone has done pretty good job while playing their characters so in totality, it comes out as a good show.”

Shivam Nair (Naam Shabana) is also a director on Special Ops alongside Neeraj Pandey. Special Ops is a production of Friday Storytellers, a division of Pandey-run Friday Filmworks.
