Balkani Infotainment hosted LUMIERE PHALKE SHORT FILM CONTEST on a global level!
The “Lumière-Phalke Short Film Contest” is in honor of two legends in the motion picture industry, Dadasaheb Phalke and the Lumière brothers. This contest will feature eminent personalities from the Kannada film industry and will be screened and distributed all over the Internet social media, traditional TV, radio and media channels.
For the first time ever, an online entertainment website and social network media of Karnataka, is hosting a global level contest of SHORT FILMS. The Balkani Lumiére-Phalke Short Film Contest is an attempt to revive film making among the youth. Our goal is to present the Karnataka film viewers with innovation and new ideas. Hence, we have decided to host a short film contest to bring out & recognize creative debutants.
The event is co-hosted by the Pink Atom Foundation (PAF), Bengaluru, well-known for its yeoman service in the field of women Empowerment since 1998. In less than 2 decades PAF has supported over two hundred thousand women members in its fold to live a life induced with strength and honor.

Exactly 18 years later, the first Indian movie “Raja Harishchandra” was released in 1913 by Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, popularly known as Dadasaheb Phalke. He was an Indian producer-director-screenwriter and is known as the Father of Indian cinema. We think it is an appropriate way to pay tribute and are all set to mark the 125th year of the first ever movie production by launching our contest at the same time.
