B-town celebs on Nirbhaya convicts hanged: ‘The wait has been long, but justice has been served’

The Nirbhaya convicts were hanged at 5.30 a.m. on Friday inside the high-security Tihar Jail. The four men convicted were sentenced death for the brutal gang-rape and murder of a medical student in December 2012. According to Sandeep Goel, Director General of Tihar Jail, the four convicts were hanged together at 5.30 a.m and were declared dead at 6.10 a.m.

Several Bollywood celebs took to their social media accounts to react to the news on Friday,

Marjaavaan actor Riteish Deshmukh is thankful for the justice even though the wait has been long, “#JusticeForNirbhaya My thoughts and prayers are with the parents, friends & loved ones of Nirbhaya. The wait has been long but the justice has been served.” In a follow-up tweet, he added, “Stricter law enforcement, harsher punishment & fast courts for quick justice is the only way to instil fear in monsters who even think of such heinous acts. #JusticeForNirbhaya“
