Emraan Hashmi Believes That The Process Of OTT platform Is Similar To Films

Emraan Hashmi, who made his digital debut with the spy series, Bard of Blood on Netflix, feels excited with the prospect that streaming services have brought. For actor medium is not important, the important part is to keep evolving.
Emraan believes that for him the medium is not important, the outlet is not important, what’s important is to keep evolving and constantly testing oneself and trying one’s hand at different characters. The actor thinks that his obvious choice is Netflix, and of course the huge subscription base and its reach.

Emraan thinks that the process of OTT is not different, it’s similar to films. It takes the same preparation, probably a little more. The mould of the character is different, so it’s more author-backed. Not every Bollywood film comes with author-backed character. But for this, the duration is more compared to films. The arc is better. One get more screen time and more time to play out nuances.
But according to Emraan there are some people who are fearful of OTT platforms. Not probably all of the industry because some actors and creative people still have a reservation. But each to their own. The actor believes that some people don’t understand the format, some feel it’s a longer format and they want to stick to films.

About the series, Bard of Blood is an Indian fictional spy thriller web television series based on the 2015 espionage novel of the same name by Bilal Siddiqi. Directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the series stars Emraan Hashmi in the lead along with Kirti Kulkarni, Vineet Kumar Singh, Jaideep Ahlawat and Shobhita Dhulipala. It is a seven-episode series that revolves around the story of an ex-RAW agent. The series premiered on 27 September 2019 on Netflix.
