​Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat Passed Away, B-Town Expresses Grief
Filmmaker Nishikant Kamat has passed away. He was in a critical condition and had been admitted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. He was suffering from liver cirrhosis in the past and that has relapsed.
B-Town celebrities such as Ritesh Sidhwani, Randeep Hooda, Genelia Deshmukh, Sharad Kelkar, Tisca Chopra and more bid an emotional good-bye to their friend on social media.
Producer Ritesh Sidhwani wrote, “My thoughts and prayers with the friends and family of #NishikantKamat. This is deeply saddening. May his soul rest in peace”
Actor Randeep Hooda shared, “Farewell Nishi!! You lived and died by what you decided you loved more than anything else...I’m sure you had no regrets about much...thank you for all the movies, all the fun stories, warmth and smiles #NishikantKamat”
Actress Genelia Deshmukh expressed, “#NishikantKamat you were one of a kind...I found a life coach in you.. I live by so much that we discussed and I live with knowing you were such an amazing soul and I’m just so glad our paths crossed...I will miss you dear Nishi...R.i.p”
Actor Sharad Kelkar shared, “More than a director, you were a mentor and a friend to me. Rest in peace #NishikantKamat sir. You will always be missed. #RIP”

Kamat is known for films like Drishyam, Madaari, Mumbai Meri Jaan, and more. Apart from that, the filmmaker has also acted in a few Marathi films, namely Saatchya Aat Gharat, among others.
His directorial debut with the Marathi film Dombivali Fast in 2005 went on to become one of the biggest hits of the year in Marathi cinema. The film was also critically acclaimed and bagged the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Marathi in 2006.
