India’s Oscar Contender List Is Out

Every year, India sends some of its best films to the Oscars. This year too, the list of films that will go to the Oscars is impressive. According to reports,the makers of Raazi, Padmaavat, October and 102 Not Out are already looking to get into the fray.

Other films that are aiming for the big honor are Manto, Love, Sonia and Padman.  All these films are vying for the Best Foreign language Oscar.  Regional cinema is also showing off its prowess, with films like Reva, Nude and Village Rockstar.

Indian films have tried to win a Oscar since a long time. Indian film makers have won Oscars, like Bhanu Athaiya for Best Costume Design for Gandhi. Satyajit Ray won the Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award. Resul Pookutty won the Oscar for the Best Sound Mixing for Slumdog Millionaire. A R Rahman and Gulzar won an Oscar for Slumdog Millionaire as well.
