Kanika Kapoor who arrived in India from London a few days ago, the Bollywood singer was found COVID-19 positive at the airport according to the Lucknow police. She took to her social media and announced the same through a post.

Kanika since has been receiving backlash from fans, netizens and fellow celebrities for disobeying authorities suggestion of staying at home. Reportedly Kanika attended several public events after returning from the UK in Lucknow.

In the post she wrote, ” For the past 4 days, I have had signs of flu, I got myself tested and it came positive for Covid-19. My family and I are in complete quarantine now and following medical advice on how to move forward. Contact mapping of people I have been in touch with is underway as well. I was scanned at the airport as per normal procedure 10days ago when I came back home, the symptoms have developed only 4 days ago.”

The Lucknow police have booked Bollywood singer Kanika Kapoor on charges of negligence for attending various social events in the city last week despite being infected with coronavirus and having been instructed by the authorities to isolate herself at her home.

Kapoor has been booked under Sections 188, 269, and 270 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Sarojini Nagar police station in the city. The FIR was lodged based on a complaint filed by the chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow.
