‘Kannadadalli’, ‘ Serve in my language’

The central government's Hindi imposition policy is not fair. India is known as the subcontinent due to its diversity in India.

From Kashmir to Kanyakumari there are many languages and cultures, India is culturally rich. The culture and language of a particular region has its own significance. There is also English which is a common language to communicate across India. The central government is now trying to impose Hindi on the states of South India. The language and culture of the area should be the first prominence. If it’s not done accordingly, we should fight and get what we want.

Pavan Kumar

Kannada film director Pawan Kumar has launched a campaign called ‘Kannadadalli’ with a moto of ‘Serve in my language.’ The purpose of this campaign is to raise awareness of the effects, setbacks and difficulties on the natives due to language imposition. This campaign is to bring together some directors, make short films and raise awareness of the evils of Hindi imposition. By November 1, everyone from FUC team will make a short film; one of the short films will be applied for a censor certificate.

The censor board issues the certificate in Hindi and English. Since we are producing Kannada films, we will be requesting to issue censor certificate in Kannada and English. If they refuse our request, the cinema will be released without censorship. This would be a kind of movement. But making a film without a censor certificate is a punishable offense. Directors can be held for 3 years but if more people support the movement, it can be a movement, not a punishable offense. Actors, writers, directors, different technicians and cinematographers can participate. Participants can pay from Rs10 to Rs 10000. This money will be used for the production of shorts.
