In the past 2-3 months, the debates around topics like that of the nepotism row have increased post the untimely demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. Certain sections of people have also blamed certain celebrities from the Bollywood film industry and accused them of sidelining the late actor.

Karan Johar was among others who faced backlash amidst the same. The filmmaker has been away from social media for quite some time. He had earlier turned off the comments section on his handles.

As soon as Johar made an announcement about his book, it did not go down well with the netizens and they trolled him mercilessly. Many of them even threatened to boycott his book. Meanwhile, a few others accused him of gaining sympathy by using his children’s name. A few days back, something similar happened when Saif Ali Khan announced his autobiography and was trolled for the same.

Johar had previously released his autobiography, "An Unsuitable Boy", in 2017. The director had written about his relationship with many celebrities, including close friends Kajol and Shah Rukh Khan, while also talking about how his cinema is often labeled elitist, among other things.

On the film front, Johar is currently working on his first historical drama "Takht", which features Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Vicky Kaushal, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor, and Bhumi Pednekar in lead roles.

The film is scheduled to release on December 24, 2021.
