India’s ban on the TikTok app has severely affected the content creators and even the app also. Our country accounts for 600 million of the app’s two billion users, and the ban could put a spanner in the IPO(Initial Public Offering)in the stocks, plans of its parent ByteDance. Experts predict this could be the best time for Facebook to launch its rivals Lasso and Instagram Reels. Even amidst this situation, TikTok claims it doesn’t share data with the Chinese government and has been invited to “submit clarifications” to authorities. Meanwhile, content creators – and consumers – can consider the other alternatives.
